Daniel G. Tobin, MD, FACP is an Assistant Professor at Yale University School of Medicine and joined Waterbury Hospital and Alliance Medical Group in 2005 where he serves as the Medical Director for the Chase Outpatient Center. In addition to working as a Clinician-Educator with both the Yale-Waterbury and Yale Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Programs, Dr. Tobin also has a busy primary care practice of his own at Chase and sits on the Board of Directors for Alliance. He graduated medical school from Weill Cornell Medical College in 1999 before completing his residency training in Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He subsequently served as a Chief Medical Resident and then as the Director for the Ambulatory Block Rotation with the Yale Traditional IM Residency Program before joining the faculty in Waterbury. He is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Areas of academic interest include prescription drug abuse and opioid safety, quality of care, administrative medicine, and medical education. Dr. Tobin is a Past-President for the New England Region of the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) and currently oversees all the SGIM Regional Presidents as the Chair of the Board of Regional Leaders and as a member of the SGIM Leadership Council. Additionally, he serves on the Governor’s Council for the CT Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP). He was also recently appointed by the Commissioner for the CT Department of Public Health to lead a task-force on the safe use and disposal of opioids throughout the state, and works with other public health leaders on this topic nationally through the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO). In 2013 he was named Teacher of the Year from the Yale Primary Care IM Residency Program.
