Dr. Geoffrey Connors is a member of the section of Pulmonary and Critical Care. Dr. Connors earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan before attending medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans. He trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado in Denver where he also served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine. While in residency he received a number of honors related to education and clinical care including the Arthur P. Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Connors then went on to a Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore before joining the faculty at Yale in 2011.

Dr. Connors is currently interested in the critical care of patients with severe, refractory hypoxia including advancing therapies such as high frequency oscillatory ventilation, extra corporeal membrane oxygenation, inhaled nitric oxide and other treatments for severe, refractory hypoxia. In addition Dr. Connors is working to standardize and improve quality of care in the ICU, serving as the co-director of several committees including those dedicated to improving end of life care, multidisciplinary rounding and physical therapy for critically-ill adults. He is the physician director of the Yale-New Haven STEPS program, which aims to increase access to early mobilization for patients in intensive care units across YNHH, even while their critical illness is still present, in an effort to speed recovery and reduce ICU morbidity and mortality. In 2014 he was named Associate Medical Director of the MICU at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Dr. Connors is also very involved in fellow, resident and student education. He is one of the Associate Program Directors for Internal Medicine Residency. He also started and co-directs two courses in the medical school - the course on Clinical Reasoning and Decision Making which spans the students first two years of study, as well as a course called "Teaching Teachers" for those interested in learning how to become a leader in medical education and public speaking. He also runs the Distinction in Clinical Education for residents, a 'Teaching Teachers' elective at the resident level, as well as serving as the Director of Education for the Medical ICU.
