Dr. Srihari's clinical and research interests are focused on the evaluation and treatment of individuals with psychotic disorders. He directs a clinic that provides a specialized model of care to individuals who are early in the course of a psychotic disorder. The clinic for Specialized Treatment Early in Psychosis (STEP, is based at the Connecticut Mental Health Center, New Haven. In 2015, the program initiated a population health campaign to reduce the duration of untreated psychosis (DUP) in 10 surrounding towns. The campaign, titled MindMap (, uses social & mass media, outreach and detailing of a variety of professionals (educators, police, consumer/youth organizations, clinicians) to shorten pathways to care for youth and families confronting the recent onset of a psychotic illness.
