Isibor Arhuidese, MD, MPH, has been elected to the Yale School of Medicine Faculty Advisory Council (FAC), as the Department of Surgery’s third representative, effective Nov. 2023. Dr. Arhuidese will serve a two-year term, alongside previously elected FAC representatives Douglas M. Hildrew, MD, and Courtney Gibson MD, MS.

The FAC, which is made up of representatives from each of the Yale School of Medicine departments, serves as a sounding board and information exchange group to the Dean’s Office. The group meets approximately twice every month to address specific issues across each of the research, education, and clinical missions.

“Each of our three representatives have been nominated by their peers as responsible conduits of information, especially as it relates to their areas of expertise,” said Alan Dardik, MD, PhD, Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs.

A surgeon-scientist in the Division of Vascular Surgery, Dr. Arhuidese will participate on the FAC as the research representative for the department. Associate Clerkship Director Dr. Gibson lends complementary perspective on the education mission; and Dr. Hildrew, a otolaryngologist, offers a learning ear for patient care.

“It’s helpful to have such diverse representation, because a lot of topics that come up during our meetings — ‘developing high quality mentorship,’ for example — will require feedback that reflects all tracks, ranks, and specialties,” said Dr. Hildrew.

Meeting minutes from each of the FAC sessions are posted online. Additionally, FAC members will present quarterly at the Department’s Faculty Meeting.
