Getting to Know You 2023

March 26, 2023

To work well, a hospital must be a tightly-knit community of people who respect one another and enjoy working together.

-Paul Beeson

Hi everyone,

Our new interns are brilliant and accomplished, but they’re more than that.

They have hobbies, favorite foods, and ambitious goals. They’re athletes, artists, and musicians. They love coffee, pizza, and ice cream. Some are coming to New Haven alone, and some are bringing partners, children, dogs, and cats. They run, bike, and hike. They play board games and watch movies with friends. They can’t wait to meet their colleagues and start caring for patients.

It’s a privilege to introduce you to our interns. Let’s get to know them.

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone. I’m spending the weekend at a folk singing retreat at The Ashokan Center in Olivebridge, NY with my daughter’s partner, Ben. I’ll be driving back to Connecticut tonight and beginning a week in the MICU tomorrow morning.

PS- Thanks to Drs. Emily Fishman, Alex Ambrosini, Paul Bernstein, and Emily’s dad, Dr. Robert Fishman, who spent much of yesterday building Whitman’s Garden at the NHPCC. The garden is named to honor the memory of our beloved NHPCC Director, Dr. Laura Whitman. The garden will be used to grow fresh vegetables for NHPCC patients.
